Before he was Quint
This morning we woke up. The boys were given their Easter candy and my Long Suffering Wife put the finishing touches on the strawberry tart she made. The tart was fantastic. While we were in our post-breakfast state, before I sat down to write my Substack my Long Suffering Wife said. “Who’s the actor in Jaws? You know the one who plays Quint.”
“Robert Shaw.” I said after a moment. Like most people with a half century of life under their belt names come a little slower, especially when I am put on the spot.
“Did you know he was in a show in the fifties?” She asked.
“No I didn’t. I knew he was in a James Bond movie.” I replied.
“Yeah, he was in a show called the Buccaneers.”
“Was it about pirates?” Instead of saying “Aye or argggh.” She handed me her phone, which was playing a Youtube clip. There was a young Robert Shaw dressed in Colonial era casual clothes, sitting with on a table. Across from him another actor was dressed a bit more formally. Shaw began to strum a guitar and began to sing…”Fairwell and adieu you ladies of Spain.”
“The best scene in Jaws is one giant Easter Egg.” LSW said.
My world will never be the same. Neither will yours if your a fan of jaws. You’re welcome.
